WHAT IS ORGANIC COTTON? Organic cotton is grown using environmentally friendly techniques without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Organic cotton is grown without harmful chemicals, pesticides, or genetically modified seeds. Our clothing brand features only organic cotton baby clothes made with only organic manure and naturally derived pesticides. COTTON AND YOUR BABY Wondering how cotton clothing affects your babies? Did you know that a baby's skin is thinner and more porous than an adult's? A baby's skin absorbs things more easily, making it more susceptible to physical and environmental factors. A baby's skin is less resistant to bacteria, especially if it's irritated by fabrics or various skin care products. All of these factors contribute to making babies more at risk of pesticide-related health problems than adults. Lotus Bio-Mineral Organics states that "Millions of children in the United States receive up to 35% of their estimated lifetime dose of certain carcinogenic pesticides by age five through food, contaminated drinking water, household use, and pesticide drift." PRINTING: The ink we use is eco-friendly reactive ink, not pigmented ink. Pigmented ink has lower colorfastness than reactive ink and is not as soft as reactive ink after printing on fabric. Our ink is formaldehyde-free, AZO-free, and heavy metal-free to a safe, non-toxic standard, which is a standard and beneficial for children's products.
